A Few NonProfits We Are Helping During COVID-19

During moments of crisis nonprofits are the first organizations people turn to for help and the first to lose funding when the economy struggles. Our team members are doing their part with various nonprofits during these unprecedented times. There are many groups in society who will be hit harder by the outbreak. We know that is true of older people and those with underlying health conditions, but it also true for those who are vulnerable from not having opportunities to stay well during stressful times; secure work and housing, access to physical and mental healthcare, and a network of friends and family. Here is how some of the DataCloud team is helping.

Project Open Hand

Manu Schnetzler
VP of Geoscience

It is great to see Manu playing an essential role in his community. The organization was impacted hard by the Stay at Home order. They saw a drop in the number of volunteers from 152 to 51. We're proud Manu is able to be one of the few.

"I signed up to deliver hot meals to homebound clients in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. Other opportunities to help include working in the kitchen, in the grocery center or serving meals."

Project Open Hand has served the San Francisco and Oakland the communities for 35 years. With the arrival of the COVID-19 crisis, they had to close several of its Community Nutrition Program sites where seniors and adults with disabilities can receive meals.

Youth In Focus

Lindsey Miller
Director of Marketing

Lindsey is not able to work face to face with her students at the moment like in the picture below, but she is teaching a virtual, equitable access, stop animation class this spring.

"Art may not be deemed an essential service for spaces to stay open, but art will remain essential to practice for individuals. I'm proud to virtually teach teenagers from all over Seattle. They need a space to create and express themselves, especially now."

Youth in Focus is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing equitable access to quality arts education for all youth, regardless of socioeconomic status, teaching visual literacy and 21st century skills.
